Wind power is currently considered one of the most promising natural energy sources. In Latin America, Brazil accounts for 90% of all investments in renewable energy, according to a report issued by the Programa das Nações Unidas para o Meio Ambiente- Punuma. Roughly 46% of Brazil's energy comes from renewable sources and 85% of the country's power generating capacity comes from hydro plants.
Renewable energy, also known as clean energy, has been advancing at a rate of about 27% per year worldwide.
Brazil is already the country with the highest proportion of clean energy in its total energy production within the electrical sector, with 80% of production originating from renewable sources, basically through hydroelectric plants.

Economic-financial and technical feasibility studies on power generation, transmission and distribution enterprises.
Environmental permits pertaining to electricity generation and transmission.
Surveys of hydro generation inventory and output, as well as their environmental impacts.
